Aurelia, officially the Socialist Democratic Kingdom of Aurelia, is a socialist kingdom in the continent Aurelestan. It is the largest of two kingdoms in the continent, the other being the The Illager Confederation, who is currently warring with Aurelia. Aurelia is a Democratic Socialist Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy. While the country does have a king, King Piro, the power lies in the Parliament to make important bureaucratic decisions. The kingdom was a direct predecessor to the Kingdom of Aurelia on the old continent, Atlantia. The capital of Aurelia is Aurelia City, home to the Aurelian Royal Palace as well as the Shopping District.
Etymology
[edit | edit source]The word Aurelia originally comes from the Latin aureus. It is a popular feminine name as well. However, the origin of this country's name comes from somewhere else despite being the same word. PRR628 derived it from a portmanteau of Latin aureus with the region in Russia known as Karelia. This created the word Aurelia, which coincidentally already existed.
History

The Eternal Confederation was an alliance in Atlantia between the Kingdom of Aurelia, St. Scotuna, but broke apart due to Revolutionary St. Scotuna launching a conspiracy against King Piro of Aurelia. This conspiracy waged war against Aurelia, seeking to undermine its influence and take down the King. It was believed by revolutionaries that the King was a dictator and heavily controlled the entire Confederation. The Catalyst

This Revolution brought about a period of instability for Atlantia, which culminated in The Catalyst, an event where the whole continent of Atlantia was flooded and sank beneath the waves. The majority of the revolutionaries perished in the flood, and the rest escaped on boats. It is believed by Aurelementalists and Auresingulists alike that the Eternal Guardian had flooded the continent in anger of the fighting. Either way, Aurelia was then founded by PRR628 when the survivors of the Catalyst discovered the new continent of Aurelestan. This migration to the continent called The Catalyst Exodus. They swiftly wrote a constitution and declared the new kingdom a sovereign state.
